On Dorothy:
"it's hard to describe Dorothy's contribution to science - in terms of both practice and the human side of things - without it sounding like hyperbole. Across all the different institutions I've worked at, and among all the impressive researchers I've known, Dorothy has always stood out to me as embodying the ideal of what a scientist ought to be. I have looked up to her from the start. Lots of scientists are clever, hardworking or enthusiastic, but even deeper than these obvious graces, in everything she does, Dorothy shows a dual dedication to finding truth regardless of ego, as well as nurturing the next generation of researchers in both their craft and their humanity. It is rare to find someone who does either so well, let alone both."
