I am currently a Trainee Clinical Psychologist in Newcastle. Before my clinical training, I completed a PhD with Dorothy focusing on communication differences in autism. My current research looks at what is similar and different about anxiety in autistic and non-autistic people, and how we can best adapt our anxiety interventions to work therapeutically with autistic people. I hope to continue this sort of work into the future.
"I owe a lot to Dorothy. Throughout my PhD with her, I was inspired by her meticulous approach to the research process and her insight into all things relating to language and communication. As a mentor, she has always been kind and attentive, and a brilliant role model. She took a risk on me as someone with a limited background in psychology, and I really appreciate the opportunities she gave for me to develop as a clinical researcher. Thank you, Dorothy!".
